practicing...

In studio class yesterday, it was brought to our attention that our grad-student, Arianna from Yale has been talking to our Professor, Pansy. She thinks Pansy is cutting us too much slack. And after much grumbling, she was like "Really, it's not that difficult. We're all trying to improve something; our bow-arm, our articulation, coordination... Anything is possible to achieve. If you don't want it bad enough, you'll get it in four years or more. If you really want it and FOCUS on it as you practice, rather than just trying to get notes, then you'll get it in a couple of weeks." And you know what? She's right! *Ding!* I've realized (once again...) that I keep limiting myself. There's no way my fingers can stretch that far for an octave... There's no possible way I can play something that fast. But anything is possible. I just have have to be inspired rather than afraid of failure, and keep working on it with the mind set that "I will accomplish this."

computer art

This is really random, but cool. I was wasting time just browsing around the internet and I found this interactive computer art. I can't give a direct link from the blog, but go to this site: http://k10k.net/ (Or you can click on the title of this blog entry.) The site is called the Designers' Lunchbox. The actual piece I want to spread around is "Issue 0133: For All Seasons by Andreas Muller." If you click on the little magnifying glass underneath the picture, you can download it onto your computer. Don't worry it's safe, and it's really fun and interactive. I think Glenn will especially like Autumn. Enjoy! (^_^) ***And I forgot to mention when I first posted this: Once it has downloaded, the program makes much more sense if you read the "readme" file before hand.***

finding pictures

I was really wanting to scan in some pictures so I can back them up in case anything were to happen to them. Unfortunately the software that came with the printer/scanner/thingie doesn't recognise the scanner when all the rest of my computer recognizes the device to print... grrr...

So, to blow off some steam and to feel productive, I started organizing my pictures on my computer. I found some things I didn't even know were here, though I'd seen them before. I think I'll share. (^_^) Not to worry, those of you in these pictures. Just in case you really don't want any random people seeing these pictures, I've blocked this blog on the general blog list. Only those who specificly want to be here are here.

"Capitalism Today"

In Philosophy 106 today, we recieved a sheet of paper which said the following:
You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company. Using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, you then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred ia an intermediary to a Caymen Island company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the compay owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States; leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet proided with the release. The public buys your bull.

Yeah... I'm married to an accountant. I'm proud of you!

Rock Concert

Ok, oops... it's been a while. Sorry 'bout that!

This past Friday I went to my first rock concert ever. Sure, I've been to see great artists like Yo Yo Ma and Itzach Pearlman and the New York Philharmonic, but who outside of the music school even knows who or what a Yo Yo Ma is??? So Eric fulfilled his promise in getting me to a concert normal people go to. :-) Thanks, Eric!!!

I went to see Thousand Foot Krutch at the Underground near Cincinatti Mills Mall (Forest Fair) and they sold out. Their capacity is 1100. Though it didn't seem like there were 1100 people there... probably 'cause they were all squished together. What, no seats?! Openers were 4th Aveneue Jones, Dizmas, and Hawk Nelson. I didn't really like the first two, they were way too much into the audience and not into what they were singing... too much of an act instead of just getting into what they were singing. Hawk Nelson I'd heard before, and I like them a lot better live. On the radio they seem like just a boy band, but up close they seem more real, and their lyrics are awesome! Thousand Foot Krutch was great!!! With their songs from their album phenomenon and their music videos, I assumed that their appearance would be much more of an untouchable dark mysterious type of thing... but they looked like people I'd pass any day (though more likely from western campus than main...). Very cool.

Ok so the audience... yeah... very dissapointing. Up front, everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun! I wanted to go up there and jump and all that, but I was afraid that I'd get trampled. By the end of the night, I realized that they were never at any point of getting out of control... but that was at the end I realized it! So I hung back in the middle of the back. I was jumping and shouting and having as much fun as my tired little body could handle... and I got some nasty looks! Ok, really... why did you buy tickets? Just to say that you went??? I thought it was only orchestra concerts that people fell asleep at. Jeesh. People can be so boring! Not to say that there haven't been many orchestra concerts that I've fallen asleep at... but I was required to be there! I don't see you needing to fill out recital cards for a TFK concert!!! I must grr.
